MOORHEAD — A new mentorship program for women interested in pursuing public service positions is being offered through the Minnesota-based 100 Rural Women nonprofit.
The program, titled the Elected Mentorship Network, will involve women in public office sharing their experiences.
Their goal is to “create connections between women who were previously or are currently in office and women who are seeking office,” according to the organization.
Women are invited to attend one or more of six upcoming virtual meetings, which are free to attend. Those interested in attending can register at 100ruralwomen.org/projects/civic-mentorship-network/ .
The upcoming meetings include:

- Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 6 p.m.: Rita Albrecht, former Bemidji City Council member and mayor.
- Thursday, Sept. 15, at 7 a.m.: Heidi Heitkamp, former U.S. senator and attorney general of North Dakota.
- Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 7:45 a.m.: Tarryl Clark and Sheila Kiscaden, former state senators and county commissioners.
- Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 6:45 a.m.: Julie Lucas, township supervisor in northeast Minnesota.
